It’s that time of year again and the Office of the Chief Public Health Officer of the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services published a document this month with some succinct reminders about influenza.
These recommendations include information about illness, how to watch for it among residents of long-term care facilities and what to do in a health care setting when you suspect a patient or resident of having an influenza-like illness.
Also included are other factors to consider during an outbreak of influenza-like illness, such as sanitation recommendations for infection prevention and control and considerations for those at high risk of contracting the illness.
