The Healthy Debate initiative intends to promote the use of
evidence and informed public input in policy and health care decision making.
This project is led by Dr. Andreas Laupacis at the Keenan Research Centre, Li
Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.
One of the ways the public can become more informed and those
working in health care can become more reflective is to share knowledge and
stories of experiences navigating the health care system. In order to
facilitate this HealthyDebate.ca is home to
“Faces of Health Care” a collection of anecdotal accounts of different people
in health care settings. Although not all the stories are about older adults or
long-term care a number of them are, such as those below.
Susanna talks about the effects of large murals and art in
special care units. Read her story.
Susan
talks about her experiences as the daughter and caregiver of someone with
dementia. Read her story.
