Low Expectations: Attitudes on choice, care and community for people with dementia in care homes

In 2008, the Alzheimer's Society (UK), published the report Home from home, which explored quality of life in care homes, based on the experiences of carers, staff, and residents of nursing homes. The report identified issues of dignity and respect with respect to quality of care.

The intention of this report is to update the evidence from the Home from home report and better understand the existing experiences and evidence around choosing a care home, to provide an overview on policy and evidence relating to care homes, and present new evidence from families, staff and people with dementia.

The report draws from qualitative and quantitative research into care issues, as well as the experiences of those choosing a care home. Three questionnaires were developed by the Alzheimer's Society.
