Living with Dementia – Restraints

In their web resource series, “Living with Dementia”, the Alzheimer Society of Canada discusses all forms of restraint use employed for caring with those with dementia and their potential harms and benefits.

They explore physical, chemical and environmental restraints and their uses. They also outline a problem solving approach to making decisions about restraints use and the alternatives that can be explored before getting to the stage of implementing restraint, while ensuring patient and health care provider safety.
