The National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel, European
Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel and Pan Pacific Pressure Injury Alliance have worked
together to develop clinical practice guidelines for the prevention and
treatment of pressure ulcers.
Unfortunately, the complete comprehensive clinical practice
guideline is not available for free to the public and can only be purchased
online to ensure that relevant information is freely available to clinicians
working with patients and residents at risk of pressure ulcers. However, a
Quick Reference Guide in electronic form is available free online and contains
recommendations for all stages of pressure injury management, from skin and
tissue risk assessment to wound care and options for non-healing wounds. Also
within this quick reference guide are specific recommendations for special
populations such as older adults and bariatric individuals.
