In 2010, the Pioneer Network and the CMS held a national symposium on culture change and food and dining requirements, Bringing together a wide diversity of stakeholders, including nursing home staff, regulators, dieticians and advocates for culture change, the goal of this group was to focus on the physical environment and dining/food policies in nursing homes that lead to poor nutritional outcomes in residents.
The Pioneer Network Food and Dining Clinical Standards Task Force heard recommendations, examined research evidence and current thinking to produce the New Dining Practice Standards document. Organizations agreeing to the Standards include:

- Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing
- National Gerontological Nursing Association
