The Sense of an Ending

In the latest New Yorker issue, the article The Sense of an Ending features the Beatitudes long-term care facility in Arizonia.  The facility specializes in person-centred advanced dementia care, and both the environment and the recreation programming reflect this.

Some features of Beatitudes:
  • The eleveator is marked by a velvet rope and black carpet
  • There is no fixed bedtimes or wake-up times
  • Music is played during mealtimes
  • Staff periodically circulate with cookies and juice for residents
