NICE Guideline: Managing medicines in Care Homes

NICE recently released new guidelines on managing medications in long-term care facilities.  The guideline is intended for health and social care providers in long-term care homes with recommendations on good practice for the processes involved in managing medications.

The guideline covers the following topics:

• Recording medication information
• Medicine reconciliation
• Medication reviews
• Assisting residents to take medications (Self-administration)
• Staff Administering medication, including covert administration
