Housing for the Elderly: A New Design Tool

Housing for the Elderly: A New Design Tool:

A new tool has been developed by the University of Sheffield and others in England to help evaluate the design of housing for older people.

Called EVOLVE, the tool consists of a set of checklists to help assess how well a building contributes to both physical support of older people and their personal well-being.

The tool can be used by architects, housing providers and individuals interested in design for ageing.

With the increased interest in and importance of helping elders stay in their homes longer, this tool provides valuable evidence for design and evaluation of existing environments.
