The European Commission and the National Center for the Protection of Older People in Ireland collaborated to produce a background paper looking at elder abuse in Europe from 1975 and on. The paper, Elder Abuse in Europe, serves as a guide to better understand and tackle elder abuse both on a national and an international level.

Yesterday, while having breakfast with my friends in the retirement communities (Charlotte NC) we discussed about elder abuse in the long-term care facilities. My friend shared that she read in one magazine that there are cases of repeated abuse of elders and these elders cannot do anything because they will be mistreated more. We realize how lucky we are that we are staying in one of the best retirement communities in Charlotte NC. We get to enjoy our life to the fullest.
