Moving Toward Health Service Integration: Provincial Progress in System Change for Seniors

From the CPRN News (Canadian Policy Research Networks News)

In the report Moving Toward Health Service Integration: Provincial Progress in System Change for Seniors, CPRN Senior Research Fellow Dr. Margaret MacAdam reviews the conceptual understandings underlying integrated care for seniors, examines models of cost-effective care, identifies their features and then ascertains to what extent Canadian provinces are implementing these features.

The study consisted of three parts: a literature review and a survey of provincial activity to implement an integrated model for elderly care, which were supported by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care; and, a roundtable, co-sponsored by CPRN and The Change Foundation. Dr. MacAdam’s report details the research and survey findings and the proceedings of a roundtable held on February 25, 2009 that included the participation of government policy-makers, representatives of community-based service providers and academics.

It's always nice to know that someone is taking a deeper look at health care especially for seniors. Every health care facility must always keep their system in check to ensure that they deliver quality service to every elder who is a member of their community. Our seniors deserve the best treatment and care every single time.
