Let's Respect (Respond to Every Challenge Therapeutically) Project

The "Let’s Respect" (Respond to Every Challenge Therapeutically) project, launched in October 2006 at Aston University, Birmingham, represents the culmination of a collaboration between the Care Services Improvement Partnership and England's Department of Health. "Let’s Respect" is a campaign aimed at better meeting the mental health needs of older people, focusing initially on secondary care settings and the three most prevalent presentations – depression, delirium and dementia

The project aimed to produce a ‘toolkit’ primarily for healthcare staff who care for older people with mental health needs in acute hospitals.
From this link you can purchase the toolkit, download associated documents and presentation slides, and read what members of the project group have to say about their involvement in the project and their hopes for the toolkit.

One of the available dowloadable documents ("Let's respect the mental health needs of older people", orginally published by Nursing Standard) includes case studies and practical information for caring with clients with dementia, delirum and depression.

The downloadable presentation slides were taken in 'real' locations by a commissioned photographic artist - Nudrat Afza.
